Health and Wellbeing Sessions
Health and Wellbeing sessions are on a Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure that the children have appropriate kit in school on these days, in particular a warm kit for games outside during the winter months and swimming kit, a towel and a swimming hat during the autumn term. The children will be reminded of the school health and safety policy of no jewellery being worn during these sessions. If your child is unable to take out their earrings, please provide plasters in their PE bag. Health and Wellbeing sessions and activities can also be delivered during various other times of the week, so it is beneficial perhaps, for the children to have simple kit items readily available in their bags for such occasions.
Reading
Reading books should be brought into school each day for the children to use as part of their guided reading session.
It is really important that children are also reading at home and it would be beneficial if they were reading for 10 minutes each day. It really does make a difference! Please make a note of what they have read in their reading record. All children have access to the Lexia reading program. Again, a consistent and regular use of this program is fully encouraged to help to improve your child’s reading skills and comprehension further.
Homework and Spellings
Homework and spellings will be given out on a Friday and the folders should be returned the following Friday. The homework will be Big Maths challenges for the week and alternate between a maths and literacy piece which will be consolidating what they have been doing in class that week.
Spelling tests will be on Friday mornings before the new spellings are sent out that evening.
In Kingfisher Class you always see pupils with their heads down doing work. People collaborate well in teams. There's a variety of talents throughout the class - expressive arts, ICT, literacy, Welsh.
